Open™ announced that its OpenSmartflex™ product has been nominated as a finalist in the 'Most Innovative Billing Product' award category at the annual Billing Systems 2005, the most representative event in billing, customer care, and CRM solutions in Europe. This major achievement has been enhanced by the nomination announced by the Billing Systems judging panel of the Empresas Publicas de Medellin, an Open™ billing solution user, for the Best Billing Implementation category.

In 12 years, Billing Systems has become the most important specialized event about Trends in Telecommunications Billing & Customer Care in Europe. Every year, Billing Systems holds in London a conference and an exhibition which presents the most important projects worldwide of telecommunications services operators and providers.

Simultaneously, the best billing-related products, projects, and practices worldwide are awarded at the World Billing Awards ceremony. Seven nomination categories have been established by Billing Systems, and Open™ participates in two of them: Most Innovative Billing Product & Best Billing Implementation.

For the Most Innovative Billing Product category, Open™ submitted the OpenSmartflex™ product to the Billing Systems 2005 judging panel for consideration, which product is the only information system in the world capable of supporting simultaneously billing, customer care, and operations for the telecommunications and public utilities services, if required.

The Empresas Publicas de Medellin model of multiple business units integration into a single invoice model and a single point of assistance represents a unique project, which aimed to achieve the replacement of approximately 34 proprietary systems and the packing of about 128 products.

All the nominations are reviewed by a panel of judges expert in the telecommunications industry.
