Open™, releases OpenSmartflex Power BOSS™ suite for the Electric Power Industries
(Miami, April, 2006)

Open™, leader in BOSS (Business and Operations Support Systems) solutions development and implementation for Telcos and utilities announced the release of its new OpenSmartflex Power BOSS solution for electric power industries, based in its widely proven and successful OpenSmartflex Power BOSS platform.

OpenSmartflex Power BOSS is an integrated software platform specifically created and aimed at customer support, consumption management and energetic balance, providing Electric Power Industries with a valuable tool for the solution of critical issues such as losses, customer care, invoicing, collections, tariffs, work orders provisioning and other field operations, through a single information system.

OpenSmartflex Power BOSS is the result of over three years of research and development focused in the needs and trends of the electric power sector, profiting from the more than fifteen years experience of Open™ Systems in the public utilities market supplying specialized information systems, and from its most recent development OpenSmartflex. Open™’s software is presently the management platform for clients in eight Latin American countries.

William Corredor, Open™’s President declared: “Open™ is determined to improve the conditions of our under-development countries. The Electric Power Sector is seeking convergence, and Open™’s OpenSmartflex Power BOSS contributes to this integrated scheme by providing a single information system covering all critical areas such as Control of Losses, Tariffs, Work Provisioning, Visual Information on Network Inventory  and Management of both Regulated and Non-Regulated Markets. OOpenSmartflex Power BOSS provides the necessary tools in support of customer interaction with each an every one of its locations, generating different types of requests: service complaints, invoicing claims and new requests among others”.

OpenSmartflex Power BOSS corroborates the commitment and contribution of Open™ to the Electric Power Sector in which Open™ has actively participated through large projects in Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) and Empresa Municipal de Cali (EMCALI) – unique models of integration of public utilities and telecommunication services in Latin America, as well as in Coopelesca, an Electric Power Industry of Costa Rica.

Open™ has had an important growth in the Electric Power Sector which has, traditionally, opted for “in-house” developments. Massive growth of public utilities in under-development countries, such as pre-paid or controlled account electric services, has encouraged the industry to implement information systems in support of these services.

William Corredor, President of Open™, concluded that, “When implemented, in an Electric Power Industry, OpenSmartflex Power BOSS provides great advantages, not only by providing efficient operating technology systems, but from an improved and efficient management point of view, by solving priority issues resulting in greater customer satisfaction and service quality improvement”.
