The Software Development Center of Open™, a leading company in B.O.S.S. (Business and Operations Support Solutions) development and implementation for telcos and utilities, was granted the CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) Level IV, an appraisal that provides international recognition to the business model and the best practices in the software development industry.
CMMI Level IV is awarded by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI), sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, and evaluates process maturity and organizational development levels of the information technology sector companies. Level IV in CMMI is one of the highest appraisals any company may obtain in the information technology and software development sector. Less than 50 companies worldwide have been appraised such level to date.
To obtain the CMMI Level IV, Open™ conducted one of the most thorough appraisals defined by Carnegie Mellon University, the SCAMPI Class A appraisal method, under the highest strictness, where more than 400 business practices were reviewed. It is worth noting that, having obtained Level IV, Open™ Systems is positioned above 75% of the companies which decide to formally adopt this international model.
“CMMI Level IV represents to Open™ Systems an endorsement to the business practices and the quality of OpenSmartflex™ products, which have been under development for 19 years and have brought Open™ Systems to the industry leadership in specialized software for telecommunications and public utilities in Latin America,” said Benito Pardini, Director of Open™’s Centro de Desarrollo de Software.
William Corredor, President, Open™, remarked that “the CMMI Level IV reinforces Open™ Systems positioning in eight Latin American countries where our solutions manage subscribers of different utilities, and it confirms the company's commitment to the development of products that cause a positive effect on the improvement of its customers’ business.”
