Open Systems Corp. sponsored the Billing OSS & BSS event held in Panama during May 12 – 13, in support to its commercial activities in Latin America and to strengthen its trade mark seeking top-of-mind recognition as one of the leading companies providing a convergent and completely integrated solution.

During the event, Hernando Parrott, Vice-President for Latin America - New Market Developments, reviewed, jointly with his research and technical development work group, the different market trends and identified the immediate needs of operators for vanguard solutions suitable for the Latin American market, a trend followed by Open on a permanent basis.

We understand our customers’ business and the evolution of each market segment we serve, thus the importance of our active participation in analytical events at which new market trends are identified. At Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), during the XII Naturgas Meeting and Annual Congress, held during the first days of the month of April of 2009, Open became aware of the main challenges that Colombian and Latin American gas operators were facing. For several years Open has been actively participating in this event, considering it to be a benchmark for the trends and management of the regulations existing in Colombia and a perfect scenario for interaction with the most important companies of the sector.

Another important event attended by Open was the Third Expo-Convention 2009, a main event of the National Telecommunications by Cable Industry Chamber (CANITEC), held in Mexico, where Open had first hand exposure to the evolution of Cable TV in Mexico and developments in added services such as Triple-Play.

Finally, at Buenos Aires (Argentina), the II Latin American CDMA 450 Conference, an alternative for universal service in the region was held. CDMA 450 no only provides fixed telephony and internet services but can also be enabled to provide mobile telephony services, especially at rural areas where fixed telephony services are available but are often out of service. CDMA 450 is a low cost communications alternative that can provide coverage to 100% of the territory.
